Filling in time before a flight (13 November 2024)

Autumn in London |
We are beginning our travel home. There is a layover in Vancouver for a few days before we take the final flights.
Our plane did not leave until 5:30pm so we had quite a few hours to fill in before taking the Picadilly line to Heathrow.
Bev wanted to have a walk around Hyde Park which I thought was a good idea except I also had a desire to go to British Museum. In the end I decided that a walk around Hyde Park would be nice given that the autumn leaves were in full bloom and no doubt there would be a carpet of leaves making for a rather pretty sight on a very nice but cool sunny day.
We ended up on the wrong train and had to backtrack to get to our destination in South Kensington. I hadn’t realised there were three museums in the area and the desire to have a look around at least one of them overwhelmed me. After a brief discussion we changed our plans. I chose the Science Museum and Bev the Natural History Museum. An hour and a half later we emerged having our desires sated for the meantime. After some lunch and a bit more of a stroll around the area, we returned to the hotel, picked up our bags and went to the airport.
It took no time at all to get through security and then we had an hour to wait. Finally we were on the plane about an hour before takeoff. We flew British Airways in Premium Economy. I was unsure how comfortable it would be, however I think in terms of comfort and service it was better than Singapore Airlines but not as good as Air New Zealand. It was the food that let it down.
We had a smooth flight of just on 10 hours. At Vancouver Airport we had to march from one end of the terminal to the other to get through customs. Then we were quickly onto the Skytrain for a relatively quick trip to centre of the city and a bed.
